FLING..........

It was the onset of monsoons as Roy sat and looked at the black clouds and the raging sea,on any other day he would have ran  out with his camera towards it like a kid  running towards her mother, but not today he just closed his eyes and felt the breeze that blew across his face.

Roy had a life which was just perfect,he had a job in one of the most sought after corporate giants of the country,a 7 pack salary,a living place in one the posh suburbs of  Kolkata ,a loving wife and a daughter who is his sunshine.Apart from this Roy had a passion of capturing the nature in its wild form,he loved clicking pics of storms, flooding rivers, anything and everything that complimented his passion. He even had a album under the title"storm chasers"just to show off his clicking skills. It contained his captures ,the days when he used to chase storms with his friends in the states while doing his masters.

They say "Life is a riddle in itself,we never cease to understand it and always look out for the best and try to face the challenges with courage and belief that we will succeed and we do but for the larger part it takes the better of us".Roy would have never thought that his fling with nature would cost him so dearly.

Monsoons were fun for Roy as he would get the chance to date nature and follow his passion,Roy's wife enjoyed what he did and loved being a part of it so was his  little daughter. In the monsoons of 2010 Roy with his family was out in the Sunderbans to click the flooded delta and the swelling rivers when disaster struck, the boat got hit by a tree and overturned plunging the whole family into the open water. The rivers had made the delta look like "Scylla" ready to take down everybody in its path.Roy clung to a piece of wood from the remains of the boat and tried to swim towards his wife  but he couldn't, his legs didn't respond and in a blink he could see her desperately trying to reach out as the monster swallowed her and she was gone,he tried to look out for his daughter but the legs were just stationary ,he shouted for help but his voice never reached and finally he lost consciousness. He woke up in a hospital bed and tried to move out as if he was still trying to save his wife but he couldn't and realized that his legs had been amputated, but in all of this there was some good news his daughter was alive and doing well(thanks to the boat driver).

Days passed and things turned ,they shifted out to Mumbai were Roy's elder sister looked after them and Roy's daughter grew up and it was his daughter whose presence  gave Roy the hope to carry on in spite of the disability to move.

A sudden tap on the shoulder and Roy opened his eyes to see his daughter with a camera asking him"Dad can I go out and click some photographs of  the sea?".Roy just looked at her and smiled.

TORMENT

The black coloured SUV screeched to a halt but it was too late, Kunal could see a torso tossed up which came crashing down on the concrete pavement with a loud thump. He froze for a moment but was brought back to reality by his friends who forced him to flee the situation before the bystanders could get him,but somewhere deep in his heart he felt something was not right.

The news had already reached home and on his arrival everybody were relived to see him,his father assured  that nothing would happen to him and everything was under control. He could shake off the shock and move on(That's normal being a kid of a rich man),Kunal just heard and saw his family's joyous expressions but deep within he was fighting a unknown force.Days passed and he went into a state of sombreness which was pretty well marked by his mother, she did everything to cheer him up but to no avail. One day while passing by his dad's room he overheard a conversation between his father and the cops ,they were talking about the family which had been affected,he came to know that the family was very poor and the dead fellow had only his mother left.He even heard of the case being reversed just to protect him. Kunal saw his father smirking as if he had won a battle.

Back in his room he could visualize the poor family and put his mother in that condition and a glimpse of the thought horrified him,he was fighting his conscience and day by day the thoughts controlled him,he tried dope, drinks and went on a self destruction path just to ward off the thoughts but his  moral sense was killing him.He no longer could take the burden of his dastardly act and surrendered to the cops knowing that this would ruin him,but it was his way of achieving salvation and he felt quite good about it even though his father had given all his efforts to save him.

BITTER SUGARCANE

Some incidents change the way you perceive life,it reminds that it isn't easy as it seems ,the complexities stretch far and the anomalies just keep cropping.

This incident happened a long time ago when I was kid (still I am) ,strolling in the garden one wintry afternoon  I saw an old man selling  sugarcane, riding his cycle and calling out in the most peculiar voice ever heard of.It was fun watching him with his antics that made few passersby into potential customers. But happiness is fleeting , so was in case of the sugarcane seller, who would have never thought that his successful errand would be abstained by force. There were a group of young men passing by who approached him and enquired about the sugarcane, the man was happy to oblige them with the canes. The young men savoured the
sugarcanes and started to leave which perplexed him.He simply asked them to pay and that was perhaps a
crime he committed, because instead of being paid he was beaten and left with his belongings which were strewn everywhere on the road.

I could see tears in his eyes which rolled down his wrinkled cheeks as he collected his things and started to leave and this certainly changed my prospect towards life.

BLINK

He touched the car in amusement only to get rattled by the shrill noise it emitted sending him to jitters, his friends giving him a petrified look as if he had committed a big time crime ,the sound went on making him helpless and above all his friends which made the situation worse for him.

Suddenly the sound stopped and  everything was silenced. The car owner gave a glare  enough to make him feel that it was the end of the world.

Poor kid before he could realise the car had vanished in the traffic leaving behind a trail of dust and an innocent mind to think of thousand thoughts about what the sound was.
